What’s In My Makeup Bag

makeupbag

Hi friends! I hope your week was awesome, and if it wasn’t at least you made it to Friday! This week I wanted to share some of my favorite beauty products. I don’t use a TON of makeup, but I do enjoy experimenting with different brands, and techniques.

My usual routine only takes about 5-10 minutes! Keep scrolling for a look into my personal makeup bag.

#Squadgoals, right?! Is it just me, or is beauty product packaging the cutest?

NYX BB Cream //  I apply this lightly on my face almost every day. I love it because it feels light, but it really does even out your skin tone. I’m talking doll status skin. NYX is a great brand because it’s on the cheaper end of bb creams, but it feels like a high quality product.

Arrow Revive Liquid Blush // I received this sample in one of my BirchBox’s and I am obsessed! If you haven’t tried liquid blush, I would highly recommend. I think it looks a little more natural than its powder counterpart.

DSC_0836

Revolution Eyebrow Kit // This lil dude comes with 3 different brow powder shades and a holding gel. I think this is the biggest beauty change I’ve made over the past year. Because ya know, brow game is important now.

DSC_0835

The Beauty Crop Highlighting Cream // Another BirchBox item, this lil guy goes a long way. Seriously, a little dap on your cheekbones and along the bridge of your nose makes such a huge difference!

DSC_0833

Illegal Length Mascara // I’ve tried A LOT of drugstore mascaras, and this one is my favorite so far. The brush catches every tiny eyelash and really gives you a natural, clean look. If you’re looking for thick lashes, I wouldn’t recommend this product – its definitely focused on the “length” aspect of mascara.

Tools //  All I use are this eyebrow brush, a beauty blender, and eyelash curler.

During the first step, since I was a total goob and forgot to take a true “before” pic.

Finished look! Let me know what you think. Do you have any favorite beauty products? How long does your routine take?

Weekly Wears

Hellooo Homies! Praise be, we have made it to Friday. Or should I say FriYAY? I feel like there should be some online petition going around to formally change Friday to FriYAY. Am I right, or am I right…? Regardless, I’m sure you all are SO antsy to see what I’ve worn this week. Get your scrolling fingers ready, and…. go!

image

Teacher Vibes //  This classy combo of suede meets black peplum creates the perfect professor look. Toss on a colored cardi, and you’ve got a complete outfit!

image

Athleisure // How great are these new Adidas kicks? They feel like walking on tiny clouds all day. I figured since my wardrobe is mostly blue, gray, black, and white neon salmon would be the perfect shoe color.

image

Baseballer Wannabe // I know, I know, this tiny baby doll dress easily looks like a slightly large t-shirt. I swear it was marketed as a dress, AND I’m wearing shorts underneath. AND this was worn on the weekend. So ya know, I feel like it’s ok.

image

Boyfriend Inspired // These boyfriend tees from Old Navy are SO SOFT and SO COMFY. I got this one during the Memorial day sale, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to go back and get one in every color. Ya feel?

image

Mix & Match //  Honestly, I don’t even know what to say about this number. A little this + a little that, and you’re good to go.

Which outfit do you like best?

Weekly Wears

Happy Memorial Day weekend guys! I hope you all get some extra time off work, and enjoy time spent with families, friends, and sunshine! Keep on scrolling to see what I wore this week.

Classic Cool Girl // This outfit is a little outside my normal style. A bit preppier than I would usually wear, but I absolutely loved it. The day was spent daydreaming about going sailing instead of working at my desk. A girl can dream.

image

Rocker Babe // I felt so bad ass in this outfit. I don’t know if it was the vampy lip, or the dark denim with a classic white v-neck, but I felt cool AF. I look like I’m pondering where I parked my motorcycle. Right?

image

Star struck // I’ve had this babydoll dress for 3 years now. It’s from Forever 21, its cotton and therefore perfect. I feel like I’m wearing a giant t-shirt all day, so it’s pretty glorious.

image

Weekend chill // The perfect classic combo for any warm day. Olive green shorts and a striped tee. Do you like my fakenstocks? They’re like Birkenstocks, but only $20.

image

Modern Game of Thrones // So I’ve been watching A LOT of Game of Thrones (yes I’m like 5 years late to the party). The combination of the braided hair, drapey shirt, and intricate sandals reminds me of something they’d wear in the series. Well in the south. But we’re all team North, right? Or actually team dragons.

Currently Craving: Spring Dresses

 one. | two. | three. | four. | five.

The temps here in sweet home Chicago are on the up and up! I swear, every year we get about 1 minute of spring after months of winter and then the weather goes straight into summer mode. I guess I shouldn’t complain too much (it was 80 and sunny most of the day!).

Anyway, this week of hot-hot-heat has got me grabbing for short and swingy dresses that feel more like wearing a giant t-shirt. I’d love to add any of these to my current wardrobe, so feel free to send me one hahaha!

Hi friends! Congrats on making it to the weekend. It’s supposed to be a good one here in Chicago, so get ready for a solid Weekend Recap on Monday. But for now let’s focus on what I wore this week!

image

Art Student Wannabe // I wore this to my future brother-in-law’s senior showcase for graphic design. I think it’s the shoes that really tie this look together. The more I wear booties with dresses and skirts, the more I love the style.

image

Polka doll // Alright guys, how cute is this teeny tiny polka dot dress/tunic. I’ll be the first to admit it’s pretty short, so I layered some biker shorts underneath. You can’t really tell, but the fabric is a really heavy canvas-cotton blend. Color me obsessed.

image

Boho babe // This top is so unique, and goes perfectly with these olive PacSun corduroys. This look kinda screams fall, but with the bright coral colored top, I think it can pass for a spring outfit.

image

Plaid is rad // Can you tell I’m trying to free my legs from the constraint of pants this week? I scooped up this babydoll a few years ago from Forever 21. What did I tell you about the booties + dress combo? Totally obsessed.

image

A little pep in your step // We round out this week with one of my all time favorite thrift store finds. This peplum tunic is so precious, and I’ve been able to style it SO many ways. This is the first time I tried pairing it with this white blazer, and I couldn’t  be happier with the outcome. I’ll definitely be rocking this look all spring.

Weekly Wears

Happy weekend lovelies and handsomes. I hope it was a solid one!

Keep scrolling to see what I wore this week 🙂

Perfectly Patriotic // I’m thinking I’ll have to repeat this outfit for Memorial Day in a few weeks, because it is just too good. This shirt is thrifted (gotta work hard for those finds) and the pants are from H&M.

image

Spring Awakening // As you’ve noticed (maybe?) I’ve been wearing so. much. black. I dress with the weather, and it has been very doom and gloom over here. But this week we were blessed with an ounce of warmth, so you better believe I took advantage and went full on spring!

image

Dreary Duds // As mentioned above, the weather has been terrible! Rain, clouds, fog – I’m pretty sure I forgot what the sun looks like…

image

Printed Pixie // These pixie cut pants from Old Navy are one of my favorite cuts ever. They are soft and stretchy and are great for a pop of uniqueness to any outfit.

image

The Lazy Girl // These pants are the only “boyfriend” pair I own. They’re from express and are SO comfortable. Another plus? They’re slim enough so my 5’5″ frame doesn’t look extra stumpy.

Hey guys! I’m writing this post from good ol’ Kansas City. Land of bbq, 20 minute drives, and some of the finances family.

Wetook a trip down here for his brother’s senior show. I didn’t bring my computer so in writing this post on the mobile version of the site *yikes* it’s pretty difficult. So I’m going to switch up my normal outfit format, and just let you enjoy the visuals of each look.

Friday! You have arrived in all your glory, *praise be*! Remember last week when I told you Spring has sprung in Chicago? Well this week we were taken back to fall-like weather, talk about disheartening. Anyway, I’m hopeful the beautiful sunshine and warmth will return this weekend. Send good vibes and great weather my way!

image

Denim Duo // Nothing goes better with black denim than a jean jacket, don’t you agree? Add in a little pop of color with a floral print and you’ve got an awesome spring outfit.

image

Nothing like Neutrals // Guys, guys. I made this skirt! Do you like it? I’m never quite sure what route to take when styling a skirt, but I most often pair them with a flowy top so it looks more like a dress silhouette. But sometimes this can lead to a very blob-like look, any advice on your tried and true skirt pairings?

image

White Out // Tell me this outfit doesn’t make me look like a beloved member of the Backstreet Boys. I’ve been meaning to try out the monochromatic look, but it took some time to build up my confidence. What do you think?

image

Rocker Babe // I used to hate the look of booties with naked legs, but times have changed and so have my feelings. Wearing boots with a cotton dress adds a certain “bad-assery” to the look. Of course, I couldn’t leave behind my favorite jean jacket. It makes the look a little more day time.

Currently Craving: Spring Shoes

CCShoes

To say I have a slight obsession with Spring shoes would be the understatement of the century. Everywhere I look I see a new pair I feel I absolutely need! Subway platforms, work elevators, fellow bloggers – no place is safe from my spring shoe envy!

  1. No longer can you strut around in your basic old navy flip-flops, these simple lace-ups add just enough pizzaz to your sandal game.
  2. Mules have officially made a come back. All my girlfriends have been wearing these when we go out. So clearly I need a pair of my own.
  3. A perfect pair of slip-on sneakers are a necessity when you are on the go. I love the color of these pale pink platforms.
  4. YAS! Finally the athleisure trend is in full force and tennis shoes are acceptable to wear with skinny jeans, a dress, or your favorite pair of leggings. While neutrals are tried and true, I love the pop of color these nikes would add to any outfit.
  5. Another platform makes it onto my list (it’s my wannabe Spaniard spirit). Nothing says spring/summer like a sweet pair of espadrilles.
  6. These bad boys are WAY out of my price range, so I’d love to hear if you guys have found a similar pair.
  7. I have been dying (but admittedly too lazy to find/try on) a pair of lace up flats since fall. I love that these could be worn during any season. Except winter. Winter in Chicago with these shoes and you’d be looking at a serious case of frost bite.

Weekly Wears

imageLet’s get wild! Because it’s FriYAY 🙂 I went to a Lukus Graham concert last night and it was simply amazing. He was a surprisingly great performer, his voice was like velvet, and the venue was the perfect size. Talk about a triple win.

Party Animal // This uber fun print is perfect for when you are feeling like you need to add a little ferocity to your outfit. Pair with simple solids so people don’t think you are a total lunatic.

image

Hot Cross Bun(s) // Bun on my head, bun on my neck. I wore this when I was wishing for spring weather, but still had to deal with lingering winter flurries.

image

Tousled Tassels //  As you can probably tell this look was thrown together and snapped like 2 minutes before I ran out the door. Nothing says ease like black pants and a simple tee. Am I right?

image

Vintage Vixen // Super bummed I didn’t get a better picture of this dress (will get one in the future, don’t fret).  I love that it’s loose fitting, but doesn’t make me look like a total blob. Also shoulder cut outs are c00l.

image

Spring Spunk // I wore this skirt last weekend when it was 70 degrees in Chicago! Ah! Cue disbelief with a side of mild sun burn. I used to not like the look of booties with bare legs, but lately I can’t get enough of it.
